REVIEWS
Réserve de la Comtesse 2016 is a great vintage, it is also noted 93-95 by Robert Parker, James Suckling and Jancis Robinson
The nose is powerful, dominated by aromas of black fruits like blackberry. On the palate the wine is dense with a beautiful fruity and woody length. The finish is persistent with ripe, ripe tannins..
The blend of the 2016 vintage Reserve de la Comtesse is composed of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.
Réserve de la Comtesse is the second wine of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac, second Cru Classé.
Undoubtedly one of the best known second wines of Crus Classés, the quality of vintage wine after vintage shows us that the Seconds have nothing to envy to the Premiers!
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2016 Reserve de Comtesse de Lalande has a tightly wound bouquet that perhaps needed more coaxing than some of its peers, but it was worth persisting, as it unveils some lovely cedar-infused black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannin on the entry, moderate depth, a light marine influence upon the black fruit with a little creaminess on the finish. This is a fine Reserve de Comtesse that is on par with the excellent 2015 last year.
