17.5/20 Jancis Robinson – “Neive. Palish, youthful ruby. Tightly knit nose that is slow to open up. Pure yet very tightly wound on the palate, too. Bags of beautifully sculpted tannins and juicy acidity, but with youthful sternness”. (Walter Speller)
95 Points, Wine Spectator – “There’s plenty of depth to this red in the form of cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, hibiscus, mineral and tobacco aromas and flavors. Harmonious and silky yet solidly built, with ripe, refined tannins enveloping the long finish. Best from 2028 through 2043.”
95 Points, Robert Parker – “The Paitin 2021 Barbaresco Basarin is from a site with south-facing vines at 250 meters in elevation, and you can feel the warmth of the growing site. Summer heat lingers in Basarin. The bouquet has a note of biscuit or cracker, small tart berries and a green aroma that reminds me of parsley or celery in a frying pan. There’s a hint of white pepper too. The finish is very silky and polished. This is a fun technical Barbaresco for the wine nerds out there, ripeness and autumnal notes. It ages in large Slavonian oak casks for 20 months.”
