Description

The tiny La Distesa estate is run by the energetic and
passionate Corrado Dettori who tends his 3.5 hectares of
vines with loving care.
The vineyards are planted on poor calcareous clay soil,
faces due south and sit at an altitude of 325 metres. The low
yielding vines are mix of the native Verdicchio with a little
Trebbiano, Malvasia, Sangiovese & Montepulciano.
The viticulture is run on strict organic principles (certified)
with copper, sulphur and also the biodynamic preparation
500 is used in the vineyard. ‘erbe’ are encouraged to grow
between the rows maximising bio-diversity and soil health.
The harvest is manual with a strict sorting in the vineyard.
Corrado is a strong believer in authenticity so he allows all of
his wines to ferment naturally at their own pace according to
the ambient temperature with no additions.
The wines are fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel
and old oak and spend lengthy time on lees with very low
sulphur additions. The results are brilliantly focused wines
that have great depth of flavour along with vibrancy and
freshess.
