McLaren Vale Merlot from the Malpas Road vineyard planted in 1991. The wine is a deep maroon hue, while the nose offers notes of plums and warm earth, leather and cloves. This is a Merlot from the serious end of the spectrum; it has depth and concentration, with a supple palate, appealing texture and good length. Mulberries and mushrooms emerge on the palate, complemented by a firm finish and slightly grippy tannins. For drinking now and over the next five to six years. Drink 2024-2030. 92 points Ken Gargett – WinePilot.com
