Description

The 2023 Saint Joseph Blanc is a blend dominated by Marsanne with a smaller portion of Roussanne, brought up for 10 months in 10-15% new barrels. It showed beautifully, with a rich, honeyed apple, quince, and crushed stone-like minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a layered, elegant mouthfeel and good acidity. While normally an equal split between varieties, the Roussanne didn’t fare as well in this vintage, leading to more Marsanne in the blend. It should have 7-8 years of prime drinking, although I see no need to delay gratification either. – 94pts, Jeb Dunnuck
