2023 Romain Le Bars Lirac

$100.50
Description
50% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Cinsault, 10% Carignan, 16 days carbonic maceration. Elevage in used barriques and a small part in tank. Rested in bottle 12 months prior to release.
The last of the 2023 wines, it displays the fluidity and freshness of the vintage. The approach is quiet, power hidden. Mineral, mediterranean garrigue. Precision, the fruit and tannins build. Velvet tannins wrap around blackberries and cherry. Florals start to emerge on the nose. A wine to decant. It offers beautiful drinking in its infancy but will reward those whom have the patience to cellar
Parisian native Romain le Bars moved to the Southern Rhone / Gard region in 2012 to work with legendary winemaker Eric Pfifferling. He spent the subsequent 7 years working under Eric at Domaine L’Anglore and whilst influenced by this great winemaker, Romain has cemented himself as now producing some of the best wines in the region, alongside his mentor.
Beginning in 2018, whilst still working at L’Anglore, with the purchase of 1.2 hectare parcel of vines in Tavel and vinifying his first vintage in his garage. Today his vineyard holdings consist of a little over 9 hectares in Tavel, Lirac and surrounds, and a winery on the outskirts of Tavel.
The vineyards are organically farmed, Romain firmly focused on soil health. Fermentations are spontaneous, wines are un-fined and unfiltered and sulphur of 1-2 parts prior to bottling.
