Description

Named after a street in Paris's 18th arrondissement where Julien Pilon spent his formative years drinking wine with friends, this cuvée is a nod to conviviality and the good life — exactly what it delivers in the glass. Rated 90/100 by the Revue du Vin de France and 94/100 by the Comité, it is consistently regarded as one of the appellation's most pleasant surprises.

Sourced from granitic sandy soils around Chavanay, Vion, and Saint-Pierre-de-Bœuf in the northern part of the Saint-Joseph appellation, the grapes are hand-harvested, fully destemmed, and vinified in open stainless-steel vats for three to four weeks, then aged twelve months in barrel with only 10% new oak.

Deep ruby with violet hints, the nose offers ripe black cherry, cassis, raspberry, violet, and a peppery, lightly smoky character typical of granitic Syrah. The palate is fresh and crunchy with silky tannins, a creamy texture, and a long, mineral, peppery finish. Approachable now and will evolve over five to eight years.

Julien Pilon has been making wine in Chavanay since 2010, trained across some of the Rhône's finest domaines. His style is defined by fruit purity, restrained oak, and terroir honesty — and this wine is his most accessible expression of that philosophy.
