It sits at 85% syrah and 15% grenache and comes from the Chapoutier, organic vineyard. Made at Cobaw Ridge, where quite the hearty collective of Daylesford younger gen winemakers seem to congregate now alongside the wonderful Cooper mob. Well, at least three or so fellas. A shorter maceration for the red grapes overall.
A delicious, easy drinking red, thought it feels like more of a plump, juicy red than its naming of ‘Dry Red’, but that’s open to interpretation. There’s a jolly fleshiness to fruit here, sweetness even, ripe raspberry, stewed red plums, some nice aniseed, white pepper and dill herbal influence doing a counter balance. Tannins are soft, shiny even, the finish a gently palate staining layer of sweet spice and alpine herbal lift; an amaro-like twist. Pleasurable with a touch of class. A light red, for sure.Rated : 93 Points
