Description
Young winemaker Benoit Doussot’s vision for Clandestin—meaning hidden, secret, or undercover—centres on vinification that highlights specific soil types and expositions. Drawing inspiration from the untapped potential of talented, progressive growers in the region, Benoit crafts wines that are both expressive and distinctive.
Each vintage, he produces two Pinot Noir-based cuvées: Boréal, sourced exclusively from north-facing parcels, and Austral, from south-facing sites. This deliberate separation by exposition results in two uniquely individual wines, each reflecting its origins.
Benoit’s approach is shaped by two key influences: the meticulous Jean-Philippe Fichet of Meursault, whose dedication to precision in both vineyard and cellar left a lasting impression, and Bertrand & Hélène Gautherot of Vouette & Sorbée, who deepened his understanding of the region’s diverse villages and soils. These influences are evident in Benoit’s wines—detailed, textural, and vibrant expressions—yet as he continues to push boundaries in quality and experimentation, his own distinctive style is increasingly coming to the fore.
