Description
“Mid lemon yellow. A clear pure ripe fruit nose, without the lemon notes. Plenty of flesh here, yet all attractively bound, nothing top heavy. 20% wood fits in very nicely. A classy Mont de Milieu of the less exotic sort. An excellent finish with tension, light salinity, not iodine. Exemplary, thanks perhaps to a yield of 40 hl/ha from old vines. 92-94, 5-star wine” Jasper Morris MW “Here too there is just enough wood influence lurking in the background of the vaguely exotic aromas of white peach, apricot and oyster shell to merit pointing out. There is impressive volume and mid-palate density to the larger-bodied and solidly powerful flavors that are rich to the point of opulence before concluding in a sappy and lingering finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. Fine quality here. ♥ Outstanding 92” Burghound “There is an excellent balance between rich, honeyed notes and very crisp, clean acidity. Stony edge to the finish. This is approachable now but really needs several years. From four parcels, part of the blend is matured in barrel, the rest in tank. 93.” Andy Howard, DECANTER “Olivier used 15% oak here-both demi-muid and fut-but it’s so pure and taut that it’s hard to find their influence. Linear, properly firm and tightly wound, crushed chalk, smoky flint and donut peach scent the wine. 93.” Christy Canterbury MW for the Tim Atkin Report
