Description

100% Malbec from a single 0.8ha vineyard, Pech Meja. The 34 year old vines are on an east facing slope with marly Kimmeridgian subsoil. The fruit is de-stemmed and sees an 8 month infusion style maceration before being pressed and rested for 4 months prior to bottling  Black cherry, star anise, smokey. Deep and dark. Fullness and freshness combined. Brooding fruit, it wants to be drunk, intoxicating. Textural. A graphite edge, tannins coat, it’s moreish. Profound, rich and fine. 

In 2020, we experimented with an extended maceration on a lot of fully ripe Côt; the resulting wine truly captivated us. We repeated the approach in 2023 with grapes from the Pech Meja parcel – juicy fruit with beautiful tannins. Eight months of maceration resulted in a texture of disarming finesse. This cuvée represents a departure from our usual winemaking practices. The exuberant profile of 2023 lends itself particularly well to this method. – Maya & Nicolas
